Microsoft announces new capabilities in Office 365 for the US Government Community; helps enable communication, enhanced security, and data analytics

Microsoft’s Office 365 team announced advanced capabilities that provide enhanced voice and meeting communication, advanced analytics, and increased security for users of Office 365 Government. Office 365 Government helps comply with stringent federal and state programs, including FedRAMP, CJIS, and ITAR. The new capabilities that were recently announced can help government agencies provide more flexible and productive work environments to their employees, while helping to reduce cost and overhead. Previously, government employees’ ability to connect, especially between agencies, has been limited. Now, Skype for Business cloud-based voice, video and meeting capabilities can help enable Office 365 Government customers with replacing their legacy meeting and PBX phone systems with modern voice and meeting infrastructure, and can benefit government agencies whose teams never meet face to face. New services announced include: PSTN conferencing, cloud PBX and PSTN calling.

We are also now offering U.S. Government Community Cloud customers significant security capabilities aimed at improving their ability to help protect their organization’s information, in line with recent government mandates. New capabilities include: Customer Lockbox, Advanced eDiscovery and Advanced Threat Protection; these enhancements help provide customers with transparency and help to protect against unknown malware and viruses.

The data analytics capabilities announced assist in information management and access, and can benefit government employees whose teams never meet face-to-face. These new capabilities help government agencies more easily access data, and help with providing the analytics that help agencies make faster, more informed decisions.
