Streamlining Power Pages Monthly Releases with Predictable ALM-Aligned Updates

Since the launch of Power Pages in 2022, we’ve seen rapid adoption, with an increasing number of customers running their mission-critical websites on the platform. Since becoming generally available, one consistent piece of feedback from our customers has been the need to streamline the monthly release process. Specifically, they’ve asked for more predictability and a reduction in the potential for regressions on production websites.

In response to this valuable feedback, we’re making significant changes to how we handle Power Pages Monthly Release Updates. These updates are designed to improve the rollout process, minimize the risk of regressions, and enhance clarity in our release communications with customers.

Introducing a new ALM aligned release rollout process

We are introducing a new monthly release rollout process which follows a standard ALM setup of Early Upgrade -> Non-Production -> Production and ensures that customers have enough time to test every monthly release before it is applied on their production websites.

Key improvements include:

  • Ensuring that Non Production websites (including all trial, developer websites as well as production websites available in sandbox environments) are always upgrade first before production environment following ALM best practices.
  • Predictable Rollouts: Standardized release paths will provide predictability of when non production v/s production websites would be updated.
  • Dedicated Testing Time: Providing additional time to test new features in non-production environments before production upgrades.

Updated Release Process

The new release process will follow these stages:

  1. Week 0: Upgrade all sites marked for early upgrade.
  2. Weeks 1–4: Upgrade all non-production environments (geographically).
  3. Weeks 2–5: Upgrade all production environments (geographically).

For example, non-production sites upgraded in Week 1 will have their corresponding production sites upgraded in Week 2.

These changes are applicable from ongoing Power Pages 9.7.1.x release.
