Team Introduction:

Microsoft Research AI for Science was founded in 2022, with a mission to drive new fundamental research advancements at the intersection of artificial intelligence and natural sciences. The goal is to transform the way humanity understands and shapes the world, while bringing disruptive innovations to industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, materials, and energy. As a rapidly growing global team, the team have members located in China, the UK, the US, the Netherlands, and Germany, it encompasses world-class experts from diverse disciplines such as machine learning, computational physics, computational chemistry, molecular biology, software engineering, and others.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in scientific research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cell biology, as well as its real-world applications.
  • Biological system modeling based on omics, particularly single-cell omics, and its application in the pharmaceutical field.
  • Analyze and summarize cutting-edge literature, transform key biological problems into computational tasks, and establish an effective algorithm evaluation system.
  • Collect and clean biological data.
  • Design and implement deep learning algorithms tailored to biological problems.
  • Write and publish high-quality research papers.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD student in computer science, bioinformatics, or biomedical-related fields, or exceptional undergraduate students.

Biological Background:

  • Strong ability to read and summarize English literature.
  • Solid foundation in data structures/algorithms and Python programming/data processing.
  • Excellent communication, expression, collaboration, and learning skills.
  • (Preferred) Published research papers in computational biology.
  • (Preferred) Experience with deep learning models (LLM, GNN, Diffusion, etc.) and a strong mathematical foundation.

Computational Background:

  • Solid mathematical foundation and deep learning/algorithm knowledge, proficient in using deep learning libraries such as PyTorch.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new domain knowledge, especially biomedical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, expression, collaboration, and learning skills.
  • (Preferred) Published papers in top machine learning conferences/journals.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of omics data or related project experience.

Able to obtain supervisor’s permission and commit to a full-time internship for at least six months. Immediate availability is preferred.

工作职责:

参与人工智能与细胞生物学交叉领域的科学研究,及其在真实世界的应用

  • 基于组学,尤其是单细胞组学的生物系统建模与其在制药领域的应用
  • 分析总结前沿文献,将重要生物学问题转化为计算任务,建立有效的算法评价体系
  • 收集并清洗生物学数据
  • 适配生物学问题的深度学习算法设计与实现
  • 撰写并发表高质量论文

任职要求

计算机、生物信息学或生物医学相关专业在校硕士/博士生,或特别优秀的本科学生。

生物背景:

  • 较强的英文文献阅读和总结能力
  • 良好的数据结构/算法基础与Python编程能力/数据处理能力
  • 优秀的沟通、表达、合作与学习能力
  • (加分项)发表过计算生物方向论文
  • (加分项)深度学习模型(LLM, GNN, Diffusion, etc)经验和优秀的数学基础

计算背景:

  • 扎实的数理基础知识和深度学习与算法基础,熟练使用PyTorch等深度学习库
  • 学习并接纳新领域知识,尤其是生物医学知识的意愿
  • 优秀的沟通、表达、合作与学习能力

工作时间要求

能获得导师许可并全职实习半年以上,近期可入职者优先。
