Judith Amores is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research, workin on Interactive Multimodal AI Systems (opens in new tab) within the Future Experiences (FX) (opens in new tab) group. Her interdisciplinary research aims to create immersive and affective experiences that enhance human well-being and cognition, with a particular focus on anxiety reduction and memory augmentation.

Her current research has two main focuses:

  1. Developing interactive and adaptive, multi-sensory interfaces that support well-being in a personalized manner using AI.
  2. Advancing olfactory research in technology to explore how odor can be integrated into digital experiences and interventions, both as an input and output.

Judith’s work includes developing immersive VR/AR experiences and wearable systems that adapt their outputs in real-time based on user context data and physiological information, providing closed-loop interventions.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Judith was a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and obtained her Ph.D. and Master’s degree at the MIT Media Lab (opens in new tab), where she also served as co-president of VR/AR at MIT. She worked on augmented and virtual reality research during her two internships at Microsoft Research and as a Creative Technologist at the Google Creative Lab. She also holds a multimedia engineering degree from LaSalle University in Barcelona, Spain.
